PTA launches illegal rickshaws plying in metropolis

QUETTA: The Provincial Transport Authority (PTA) has launched crackdown against the illegal rickshaws in the metropolis.
This was stated by the Secretary PTA, Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail during inspection of the rickshaws at double road near Sariab railway crossing the other day.
The Secretary PTA was flanked by the Secretary RTA, Amanullah Panezai, Motor vehicle examiner, Ghous Bakhsh Kurd, SP Traffic, Saifullah Khetran and other concerned officials.
The Secretary PTA said that the route permits and other documents of the rickshaws in addition to their fitness are being checked during inspection. On the occasion, at least 10 rickshaws were challaned on the issue of overcharging of fare as well as not possessing the fitness certificates.
Moreover, three rickshaws were also impounded. Several rickshaws were issued warning to get fitness certificate from the concerned authority within three days otherwise action would be taken against them, the Secretary PTA maintained.
They were also asked to improve condition of their rickshaws. The rickshaws plying with bad condition would be impounded as well, he warned further.
He said that it would also not be allowed to the rickshaw drivers to overcharge the passengers.
The Secretary PTA on the occasion also mentioned that the action has been expedited against the rickshaws and other transport being plied on the fake permits and documents.
He said that the rickshaws are causing traffic congestion in the metropolis.
