QUETTA: Three-day National Immunization Days (NID) campaign was launched successfully on Monday in some 29 districts of the province.
However, the campaign has been deferred in Quetta district for time being mainly owing to non-availability of the desired security.
The Director General of Health Services, Dr. Farooq Azam Jan told that the immunization campaign would be launched in Quetta next week.
He said that all the necessary arrangements had already been made for the campaign. We are hopeful that the desired goal of the immunization would be achieved.
During the campaign launched in other 29 districts of the province, it is targeted to vaccinate over 2.47 million children below five years of age against the crippling disease, sources of the Health department informed.
For the purpose of immunization, 6,498 mobile teams have been formed. While on the other hand, the arrangements have also been made to administer anti-Polio vaccine to the children at 789 fixed sites and 311 transit routes.
As many as 1,332 area Incharges would also take part in the NID campaign, the sources maintained.
Special arrangements have also been made to vaccinate the Afghan refugee children in their camps and otherwise.
As far Quetta, the polio vaccine would be administered to over 4,85,000 children during the campaign.
