QUETTA: The World Meteorological Day is being observed on March 23 in Quetta as elsewhere in the country and the world.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has arranged has arranged an exhibition of the scientific equipment at the Geophysical Center near Fatima Jinnah TB Sanatorium the same day.
The exhibition would remain continued from 10:00 AM to 02:00 PM. Different images of ozone, cyclones and other developments received from the satellite besides the equipment would be put on display in the exhibition.
The general public visiting the exhibition would be informed about performance of the department and other related things.
It may be mentioned here that since 1961, World Meteorological Day has commemorated the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organization and the essential contribution that National Meteorological and Hydrological Services make to the safety and well-being of society.
Each year, the celebrations focus on a theme of topical interest.
The theme for this year, “Climate knowledge for climate action,†provides an opportunity to take stock of the climate knowledge built in the last decades as an essential base to support the path towards more ambitious action to address climate change and climate variability.
