Highlights of Balochistan Sports Festival begins in Ayub Stadium

QUETTA: The Balochistan Sports Festival 2015 was inaugurated in style in the provincial metropolis on Sunday.
Following are the highlights of the inauguration of the Festival.
The opening ceremony of the Sports Festival was arranged at the football ground located in the premises of Ayub Stadium.
The Governor Balochistan, Muhammad Khan Achakzai was the chief guest. The Commander Southern Command, Lieutenant General Nasir Khan Janjua was the Guest of Honour.
Also attended the inaugural ceremony was by the Provincial Ministers Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch, Mir Mujeebur Rehman Muhammad Hassani, senior military and civil officers.
The Governor Balochistan and Commander Southern Command came to the venue riding in the traditional buggi (the horse four-wheeled vehicle). The Provincial Minister for Sports, Mir Mujeebur Rehman and Health Minister, Mir Rehmat Baloch were also on board. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the Governor and Commander Southern Command were highly appreciative of the organizers for successfully organizing the Sports Festival for second time in the province.
They said that all those who played their role in making the event great success deserve praise.
The Governor said that there is a beginning of good life in the province as the clouds of lawlessness have been disappeared.
He particularly applauded the role of Pak army in maintaining law and order in the province. The role of army has been remarkable in this regard, he commended.
Muhammad Khan Achakzai also said that the bright future of Pakistan is linked with Balochistan.
Speaking on the occasion, Lt. General Nasir Khan Janjua told the youth of Balochistan that this country is yours.
He said that if Pakistan is heart then the people of Balochistan are its heart (beat). He also expressed the resolve to eliminate the curse of terrorism from the country.
The Commander Southern Command also said that the people have started taking sigh of relief in the province. However, we have to bring more improvement in the current situation, he added.
He congratulated the provincial government particularly the Sports Minister, Mir Mujeebur Rehman Muhammad Hassani, General Aftab, IGFC General Sher Afgun, and all other concerned in making the Sports Festival a great success.
He also applauded the people of the province for their wholehearted participation in the inaugural ceremony.
The Governor formally made announcement about opening of the Festival.
A large number of people including the male and females as well as the children were also among those participated, witnessed and enjoyed the colourful inauguration of the Festival.
The contingents of sports persons belonging to all the six divisions of Balochistan appeared in the march past and presented salute.
There was also superb performance of the young athletes and gymnasts in the inaugural ceremony of the Festival.
The Pak army jawans also demonstrated wonderful performance and skills on the occasion.
A smartly turned out band of the Police was also there to enthrall the audience.
The small girls from various schools clad in different cultural clothes also showed nice performance.
Senior footballer, Muhammad Nabi Jin lit the torch of the Sports Festival.
Earlier, there was a torch relay by the famed sports persons mostly veterans including the former captain of Pakistan football team, Ayub Dar and a female athlete Sohaila Muhammadi.
The impressive fly past was also demonstrated by the army’s jets and helicopters making the ceremony memorable.
The inaugural ceremony remained continued for at least four hours.
Strict security measures were adopted in and around the Ayub Stadium. The personnel of the Police, Frontier Corps, Balochistan Constabulary besides the Army were deployed to double ensure that no untoward incident is occurred on the occasion.
It may be mentioned here that 29 different sports events would be organized in the Sports Festival. The sports events are included: football, cricket, hockey, basket ball, volley ball, boxing, badminton, table tennis, squash, shooting ball, body building, gymnastic, weight lifting, karate, water sports, athletics and others.
Over 2,400 players including male and female would be taking part in the sports competitions being organized at various venues with majority in Ayub Stadium.
The Sports Festival would remain continued till March 29, 2015.
