QUETTA: The Pakistan Day was celebrated with due national enthusiasm and spirit in the provincial metropolis and different other parts of Balochistan on Monday.
The flag hoisting ceremonies as well as different other functions were arranged marking the Day both at the official level and otherwise.
The senior government functionaries, Pak Army and Frontier Corps high and lower command as well as senior police officers and officials dignitaries and people belonging to various shades of life attended the function making them memorable.
While the flag hoisting ceremonies were arranged mostly at the divisional and district headquarters, similar functions were also held at the tehsil level.
The main function in connection with the Pakistan Day celebrations was held at the Governor House in which the personalities demonstrating excellent performance in different sectors were conferred the presidential and excellence awards.
The Governor Balochistan, Muhammad Khan Achakzai gave away awards at the investiture ceremony, on behalf of the President.
Also present in the ceremony were the Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Nasir Khan Janjua, Inspector General of Frontier Corps (FC) Major General Sher Afgun, Inspector General of Police, Muhammad Amlish, Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation, Dr. Kalimullah Khan, Deputy Mayor, Muhammad Younas Baloch, provincial ministers, members of the assembly, notables and senior civil and military officials.
The recipients of the presidential awards were included: Engineer Ahmad Farooq Bazai (Sitara-e-Imtiaz), Ms. Kaniz Fatima, Agha Naseer Ahmadzai, Muhammad Bashir and Taj Muhammad Tajal (Pride of Performance) and Siddique Baloch and Ms. Tahir Ahsas Jatak (Tamgha-e-Imtiaz).
Eight other personalities were given the excellence awards as well.
Meanwhile, Youm-e-Pakistan Mela also got underway at the Askari Park.
Governor, Muhammad Khan Achakzai inaugurated the Mela. Commander Southern Command, Lt. General Nasir Janjua besides other high military and civil officials and the elected representatives graced the occasion.
The two-day Mela would remain continued today (Tuesday) as well.
The entry of the families was open and free.
The Mela includes different colourful activities including fly past, display of the military equipment and weaponry, besides the stalls of different provincial government departments and educational institutions. The stalls of different food items have also been set up in the mela.
Meanwhile, reports reaching from interior province, a ceremony of the flag hoisting was held at the Quaid-e-Azam residency in Ziarat.
The Deputy Commissioner Ziarat, Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail and Colonel Irfan Ali hoisted the national flag. The notables of the areas as well as other prominent personalities attended the ceremony.
The Pakistan Day was also celebrated in Khuzdar. Different colourful programmes were arranged by the district administration and FC on the occasion.
The Member National Assembly, Maulana Qamaruddin and other notables attended the ceremonies.
A ceremony was organized in Sui FC Qila where the Commandant Colonel Fayyaz Farooq hoisted the national flag.
In Sui, the Pakistan Day rally was taken out the same day. The tribal elder Mir Ghulam Qadir Bugti led the rally in which a large number of people participated.
Similarly, a colourful Pak day function was also organized by the Taftan Rifles in Nokandi where Commandant Colonel Irfan Ashraf hoisted the national flag.
The Pak Day activities were also organized in Panjgur district the same day. While a function was held under the auspices of the district administration at the District Council Hall, the other was organized by the FC. The Sector Commander Panjgur, Awaran and Taftan hoisted the national flag at the FC ceremony.
