Korea Corner inaugurated at NUML

ISLAMABAD, September 20(Online): Ambassador of Korea Dr Song Jong-hwan Friday inaugurated Korea Corner at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML).
The Korea Corner has been set up by the University in corporation with the Korean Embassy to promote Korean language and culture. The Korea Corner will be focal point at the Korean Language Department of NUML.
After inauguration the ambassador said Pakistan and Korea are friendly countries and cooperation between them has been growing over the years.
Korea is providing $ 200m to Pakistan as economic assistance. The two countries will sign agreement with this respect Friday afternoon.
The ambassador said Korean companies are taking keen interest in investing in Pakistan. He was confident that the Korean investors would be able to set up industrial units in the economic zones being created by the present Government of Pakistan.
Ambassador said he was very happy to note that NUML was taking interest in promoting Korean language and there are quite a number of young people who are learning this language at the Korean Department of the University.
The Korean Embassy in Islamabad has been helping NUML in advancing the cause of the Korean Department.
Earlier the University has established Kind Sejong Institute Islamabad at the Korean language Department to promote the Korean language in Pakistan.
The Korean Embassy had also helped NUML in the establishing the institute.
He said the Korean Government will award scholarships to the young students interested in learning Korean Language at the higher levels. The Pakistani students will go to Korea to take such courses.
Rector NUML Maj Gen (R) Masood Hasan joined the Korean Ambassador in the unveiling of plaque of the Korean Corner.
He assured the Ambassador that the Corner would be fully utilized for the objectives it has been established for.
He thanked the ambassador for the assistance of his embassy in the setting up of the Korean Corner.
Those who attended the Korean Corner inauguration ceremony included Managing Director Overseas Employments Corporation Saeed Ahmed Sheikh, Senior Korean Diplomats, Registrar NUML Brig (R) Saeed Akhtar Malik, Professors and Head of Department Korean Language Department Dr Atif Faraz. Students of Korean Language Department also participated in the ceremony.
