QUETTA: Postal Hockey Club won the Balochistan Sports Festival Hockey Tournament 2015 here.
The Postal Club defeated the Southern Command hockey team by 3-2 goals in final of the tournament played at the General Musa Hockey Ground the other day.
It was a tough fought match as the match ended in 0-0 draw. No side could score a goal in the stipulated time, so its fate was decided on the penalty stokes.
In this crucial phase, the Postal Club availed three strokes against two availed by the Commander Southern Command side.
Former Director Sports, Dr. Qasim Baloch was chief guest of the final.
In the end, he distributed prizes among the players of the winning and runners-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Qasim Baloch appreciated the Balochistan Sports Festival being held in Quetta.
He said that such activities help promote sports and healthy activities besides providing ample opportunities for the sports persons to take part.
Also present on the occasion were the office bearers of Balochistan Hockey Association including its General Secretary, Amjad Satti, president Pakistan Softball Federation, Mian Marooful Hasan, General Secretary Haider Lehri and others.
Squash final:
Safiullah Kakar defeated Abdul Malik by 3-2 in final of the Balochistan Sports Festival Squash Tournament here at the Mir Shah Nawaz Marri sports complex.
It was a tough fought match as well between the two prominent squash players of the province.
Earlier, in semifinals played at the same venue, Safiullah beat Suleman Patrick and Abdul Malik defeated Kalimullah Khan.
Meanwhile, in Under-14 boys final, Syed Hasnain beat Abdul Hadi.
Director Sports, Nazar Muhammad Baloch was the chief guest. Also present in the ceremony was General Secretary of Balochistan Squash Association, Muhammad Arshad and others.
Later, the chief guest distributed prizes among the players and officials.
