Inquiry tribunals formed to probe into killings of media persons

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has formed tribunals to probe into the cases of killings of media persons during different incidents took place between year 2011-13.
According to the notifications issued by the Provincial Home and Tribal Affairs department, seven tribunals would probe into the killings of 14 journalists.
The Tribunals would probe into the incidents of killing and fix the responsibility besides preparing recommendations to prevent such incidents in future.
The Tribunals would submit their report along with the recommendations to the higher authorities within 30 days.
According to a notification, the District and Sessions Judge Quetta has been declared as a Tribunal for inquiry of the incidents of killing of Saifur Rehman and Imran Sheikh of SAMAA TV and Muhammad Iqbal of NNI, who were killed on October 3, 2013.
According to another notification, the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Panjgur would conduct inquiry of the killing of a reporter of a private TV channel, Rehmatullah Abid in November 2012.
Similarly, District and Sessions Judge Kharan would do investigation of killing of one Abdul Qadir on May 27, 2012.
Moreover, the responsibility of inquiry of killing of Tariq Kamal, journalist of Daily Kawish in Lasbela district has been assigned to the District and Sessions Judge Lasbela.
In addition to that, the District and Sessions Judge Kalat would do investigation of the killing of President Kalat Press Club, Mehmood Ahmed Afridi.
Meanwhile, according to yet another notification, a Tribunal comprising District and Sessions Judge Khuzdar has been formed for investigation into the killing of three journalists namely Abdul Haq son of Muhammad Hamza, Javed Ahmed son of Naseer Ahmed and Munir Shakir son of Abdul Rehman.
The Tribunal would probe into the incidents of killing and fix the responsibility besides preparing recommendations to prevent such incidents in future.
The Tribunal would submit its report along with the recommendations to the higher authorities within 30 days.
Similarly, according to another notification, the Tribunal consisting of District and Sessions Judge Makran would probe into the incident of killing of Abdul Razzaq son of Gul Muhammad, Abdus Sat Rind, Ilyas Nazar son of Nazar Muhammad.
