QUETTA: The Transport Compensation Committee met with the Secretary Provincial Transport Authority (PTA), Abdul Khaliq Mandokhail in the chair.
Those who were present in the meeting were included: Secretary Regional Transport Authority, Deputy Secretary Home, Deputy Secretaries Law and Finance, besides other concerned officials.
The meeting decided to fix new rates of the compensation in view of prevailing circumstances and in proportion of the price-hike.
Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary PTA stressed the need to increase the amount of compensation in interest of the transporters and the public terming it as an unavoidable.
In context of the meeting, the provincial government and other concerned authorities would be asked to do the needful in this regard.
He also insisted that the compensation can’t be a substitute or compensation of the precious life lost in case of the road accident.
However, the financial assistance could help alleviate the suffering of the family of the victims.
