QUETTA(PPI): : The Pakistan Day Sports Festival Canoeing and Rowing Championship 2015 came to an end here at the scenic Hanna Lake the other day.
Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy won the Championship Trophy securing first position in different events aggregately.
Commander Southern Command, Lt, General Nasser Khan Janjua was chief guest at the final competitions and the prize distribution ceremony held at HDWSA at the Hanna Lake.
Also present on the occasion were the Provincial Minister for Services and General Administration department Nawab Muhammad Khan Shahwani, Member Provincial Assembly Dr. Shama Ishaq Baloch, GOC Maj Genral Aaftab Khan, Secretary Sports Dr. Shoaib Ahmed Gola, Collector Customs Quetta Dr. Mohammad Saeed Jadoon, Director Sports Nazar Mohammad officials of Pakistan canoe & Kayak Federation, Balochistan Canoeing, Rowing, Sailing Association?s among 660 guests.
The young shining canoeist, Muhammad AbuBakar Durrani, who won three Gols Medals was adjudged best player of the Championship, received the trophy.
Pakistan Customs Canoeing team finished runners-up in the championship. Third position went to the Government Girls College Quetta team & Quetta City canoe Club and Loralai Canoe club stood 4th, 5th.
Muhammad Umar Durrani got the Juniors Trophy. While on the other hand, among the female canoeists, Tehmina Mahak, Kalsoom, Zam Zam Durrani and Gul-e-Lala Qazi secured first position in different female category events.
In all 70 male and female canoeists took part in the sports festival Canoeing and Rowing Championships.
It may be mentioned here that championship was organized by the Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy at Hanna Lake under the supervision of Pakistan Canoe and Kayak Federation and in collaboration with Balochistan Canoeing; Rowing Associations sponsored by Balochistan Sports Department, Meanwhile, Director Asian canoe Confederation, Secretary Pakistan canoe and Kayak Federation and CE HDWSA Hayatullah Khan Durrani addressing the prize distribution ceremony appreciated the outstanding role of Csaba Szanto official and expert of International Canoe Federation (ICF) for his continues tireless efforts and cooperation with PCKF to the promotion and development of Canoe and Kayak Sports in Pakistan specially his assistance for confirmation of Pakistan Participation in ICF TIP programs Durrani said Canoeing sports converting youth to the healthy actives.
All equipment?s Canoe , Kayak / Rowing racing Boats, Paddles , lifesaving jackets, Motor Boats for Judges and rescue, technical staff for the championship were provided free of cost by HDWSA he thanked HLDA 41 Div for provision of cooperation and strict security for the championship.
The chief guest Commander Southern Command gave away prizes and certificates to the position holder canoeists and rowers beside the officials. He appreciated the organizers for arranging the CanoeKayak and Rowing Olympic sports engaging young male and female canoeists in it. He on the occasion also praised standard of the CanoeKayak sports competition in the end, the Chief Executive of Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy and Director of Asian Canoe Confederation, Hayatullah Durrani Presented a Commemorative shield to the chief guest.
