QUETTA: The 37th anniversary of the Brahvi Adabi Society was observed here the other day.
A function marking the anniversary was held at the Balochi Academy where Member Provincial Assembly, Dr. Shama Ishaq Baloch was the chief guest.
Also present on the occasion were Dr. Liaquat Sanni, Abdul Qayum Baidar, Noor Khan Muhammad Hassani, Professor Sial Kakar, Agha Gul, Zafar Mairaj, Abdul Razzaq Ababaki, Professor Hussain Bakhsh, Sajid Bangulzai and Ali Gul Sarparah, besides others.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Shama Ishaq said that the growth of any language depends on positive literary environment.
The value of languages has been increased in the province following the initiatives taken by the present government, she maintained.
Dr. Shama also said that the poets and writers are asset of our society. The present government values them a lot, she mentioned adding that the steps taken by the government for development and promotion of literature in the province are unprecedented.
She announced grant of Rs. 100,000 for the Brahvi Adabi Society.
Other speakers also highlighted the importance of languages in development of literature and culture of that particular area.
They said that we need to take concerted measures for promotion of the languages and literature in the province and so the ancient Brahvi language.
They also underlined the need to preserve the language, which is facing the threat of extinction.
The papers were also read on the linguistic issues facing the Brahvi language.
Poetry session was also held in which the poets coming from Naseerabad, Khuzdar, Noshki, Mastung and other areas presented their kalam (poetry).
