Sadiq welcomes release of 600m for Pat Feeder canal desilting

TAMBOO(PPI): President PPP Balochistan and former provincial minister Muhammad Sadiq Umrani has welcomed release of Rupees 600 million by Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch for Pat Feeder Canal desilting and repair of breaches caused by recent floods and carrying out work by Frontier Works Organisation.
He said this would help quality work and hundreds of thousand acres of land would be irrigated.
He said here Wednesday that commission mafia was creating hurdles in the said project. Chief Minister and Chief Secretary should take serious notice of this.
He said economy of Balochistan depends on agriculture. Nasirabad division was meeting agri requirements of the province. He said 2012 devastating flood destroyed Pat Feeder Canal. Billions of Rupees were misappropriated instead of carrying out work with the result lakhs of acre of land destroyed for three years. Zamindars and kissans faced economic deterioration and thousands of people migrated from the area.
Due to efforts of Chief Minister and Chief Secretary Rupee s600 million have been released for repair and restoration of Pat Feeder Canal and its contract has been given to FWO. FWO is an important organisation which would carry out repair and restoration in transparent manner.
