Training workshop on trickle irrigation and ecological change

QUETTA: Three-day training workshop on “crops produced with less water, trickle irrigation and environmental change” came to an end here the other day.
The Agriculture Extension Department organized the workshop.
Director General Agriculture Extension, Yar Muhammad Pindrani, Divisional Director Quetta Division Wazir Khan Safi Director In-service Academy, Dr. Amanullah Salarzai addressed the workshop.
Addressing closing session of the workshop, the DG pledged to make the In-service academy more effective so as to build capacity of the employees through advance training.
He said that we are facing problems mainly due to resources’ constraints. However, it is commendable to see the Academy functioning well, he maintained.
He also said that the training workshops play pivotal role in capacity building of the employees engaged in them.
Addressing on the occasion, Dr. Amanullah Salarzai said that change is part of the nature and natural system. The variation in earth causes earthquake and floods bringing change in the geography and climate, he pointed out.
It is the climatic changes which also cause increase in the land temperature and sea level, reduction in the humidity, marked fluctuation in the rainfall, degradation of the natural resources, etc., the Director in-Service training noted with concern.
The climatic change is also causing drought in certain areas and flood like situation in some other ones, he maintained.
Dr. Salarzai also mentioned that the long drawn-out drought spanning from 1997 to 2003 cast adverse effects on the socio-economic development of the province. Moreover, it also created numerous environmental issues in the province, he added.
In the end, the DG Agriculture Extension distributed certificates among participants of the workshop.
