135 cases of missing persons cases in courts, BA told

QUETTA(PPI): One hundred and thirty five cases are in the courts for hearing. Of these 71 are under hearing with Commission and 64 are under hearing by Supreme Court.
This was stated by Home Minister in written reply to a question asked by Sardar Akthar Mengal in Balochistan Assembly here Tuesday.
According to Home Minister issued of missing persons emerged when human rights organisations raised hue and cry that 8000 people were missing form the province. They alleged secret agencies responsible for it.
A special Cell was established in the Home Department Balochistan to resolve cases of missing persons on emergency basis. Cell advertised names of 989 names in the national and regional newspapers and repeatedly requested the people to contact home Department with details. Only 194 applications were received from 2009till today.
A special task force headed by Secretary Interior was also constituted in which representatives of all secret agencies re included. It held 31 meetings. Interior Ministry also constituted three special commissions. Eighty of the 194 missing persons have been traced yet while 43 were such cases which did not fall in the purview of missing persons and commission deleted them from the list of missing persons. Commission has 71 cases with it under hearing.
Relatives of missing persons also approached Supreme Court. Apex court received 146 applications and64 of them were under hearing.
To another question Home minister told same member that mutilated dead bodies started in 2010 and no such cases was reported during 2008 and 2009.
A total of 612 dead bodies have been recovered so far. Details are Baloch 373, Pashtoons 95, unrecognizable 71 and others including women, children, Punjabis and Afghans 73.
To yet another question Home Minister said that on May 25, 2014 nearly 100 armed men led by Shafiqur Rehman Mengal in 10 to 12 Surf vehicles attacked Tehsil Wadh Check Post with hand grenades and fired shots indiscriminately in which 9 Levies men were martyred and3 injured. An FIA has been registered against accused Shafiqur Rehman Mengal and his accomplices.
