QUETTA: The General Secretary Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan, Dr. Aftab Kakar has said that the anti-measles campaign has been very successful in the province.
This, he stated in a statement issued here the other day. According to provincial General Secretary of PMA, hundreds of thousands of children have been saved from the measles disease through immunization.
He criticized those making negative propaganda regarding measles vaccine and termed them just ignorant.
Dr. Aftab said that the vaccine of measles is of best standard and around 40 million children have so far been administered the same vaccine all over the country.
Over three million children have been vaccinated against the measles in Balochistan province only, he mentioned.
He said that a few incidents were reported during the campaign, but they are being portrayed wrongly giving fictitious colour.
Some people also made politics on the incidents, which is sorrowful, the General Secretary of PMA Balochistan said adding that just because making politics on such important issue is nothing but is equal to push our children in mouth of death.
Dr. Bashir said that the vaccination of the children and people is done against the fatal diseases, but it is just unfortunate that some make negative propaganda for the political gains and interests, regretfully he pointed out.
He appealed to the political leaders and masses not to make politics on the issue of health as a number of children have suffered and are suffering due to the measles in the province every year.
Under the given situation, the government of the day deserves appreciation on the initiative of launching anti-measles drive in the province, he commended.
