New Delhi, September 21 (Online): India’s Hindu extremist party BJP’s legislator Sangeet Som, who is accused of circulating a fake video that escalated the unrest that resulted in the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar in western Uttar Pradesh earlier this month, has said he has decided to surrender, Indian media reported on Saturday.

Dozens of Muslims were brutally killed by extremist Hindus over video of Pakistan’s Sialkot city where two brothers were beaten to death.

Speaking to reporters in Meerut, Som once again rejected the allegations against him and added that he decided to surrender after he came to know that he was likely to be arrested by the police today. "I am a peace loving man. It's a fake case anyway," he said.

Som has been accused by the police of circulating a video that claimed to show the lynching of two Hindu Jat boys; the footage was actually two years old and from Pakistan, the police said.
