PM Nawaz leaves for New York to attend UN General Assembly's session

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif left Islamabad for New York today to lead Pakistan's delegation at the UN General Assembly's session.

He was seen off by Information Minister Pervez Rashid‚ Political Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Asif Kirmani and other high-ranking officials.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi are also accompanying the Prime Minister.

During his weeklong stay in United States the prime minister will address the UN General Assembly on 27th of this month and will highlight Pakistan’s viewpoint on various regional and international issues besides domestic priorities.

The prime minister will apprise the session about the efforts the present government is making to curb the menace of terrorism to bring stability to the region.

Nawaz Sharif will also hold bilateral meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the General Assembly session. He will discuss various bilateral and regional issues with these leaders.

The prime minister will also attend various events during his stay in New York including high-level meetings on millennium development goals, sustainable development and nuclear disarmament.
