Eidul Fitr was celebrated with traditional zeal and religious fervor in the provincial metropolis on Saturday last.
On the festive occasion of Eid, it was pledged to forge unity among the entire Muslim Ummah and further strengthen the national cohesion and solidarity.
The day dawned with special prayers after Fajr in mosques where Ulema prayed for the prosperity and well being of the country besides stressing for unity of the Ummah.
At the outset, the Eid congregations were held at around 200 places including the Eid gahs, mosques, Imam bargahs and open spaces as well as the parks, where hundreds of thousands of believers, accompanied by their children, thronged mosques, Eidgahs and other places to offer Eid prayers in different parts of the metropolis.
The main Eid congregation was held at the Eid gah Toghi road where the prominent religious leader and Provincial Khateeb Markazi Jamia Masjid, Maulana Anwarul Haq Haqqani led the Eid prayer. The former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mr. Justice ® Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary, his son Dr. Arsalan Iftikhar, other dignitaries besides a large number of others also offered the Eid prayer.

Other major Eid congregations were held in Liaquat Park, Jamia Farooqia, Railway Hockey Ground, Railway Football ground, Joint road, Eidgah Alamdar Road, Dairy Farm masjid, Quetta cantonment, Jamia Masjids of Satellite Town, Sariab Road and Jinnah Town, Shahbaz Town, Jinnah Town, Nawan Killi, Pashtonaabd, etc.
Like other parts, people bowed their heads and showed allegiance to Allah Mighty.
Ulema and khateebs from different schools of thought delivered special sermons and lectures to highlight the significance of the day.
They offered special prayers for peace, progress and prosperity of the beloved homeland – Pakistan as well as for the well-being of the Ummah and liberation of occupied soils including Kashmir and Palestine.
They also voiced for cruelties and highhandedness unleashed against the Muslims in Ghaza by the Israeli forces.
They also urged Ummah to be united for foiling the vicious designs of extremists and terrorists, who had put numerous innocent lives at risks and peril.
The Ulema also urged the people to follow the teachings of Islam with fullest sincerity. Islam, they said is the religion of peace and affection. It does not accept violence and hostilities in any mode or manner, they said.
The scholars called upon the people to work devotedly for peace, progress and prosperity of the country, which is a greatest gift of Almighty Allah for the Muslims. They also emphasized the need for inter-faith harmony and said that with mutual endeavors we shall have to make Pakistan a self-reliant and affluent nation.
After Eid prayers, the faithfuls exchanged Eid greetings. Later, they visited various graveyards and offered Fatiha for the departed souls of their dear ones.
While Balochistan Governor, Muhammad Khan Achakzai celebrated the Eid in his native area, the Chief Minister, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch celebrated Eid in Quetta. He offered the Eid prayer at the Governor House.
He met the people and exchanged the Eid greetings as the doors of the Chief Minister Secretariat were remained open.
The ministers, senior bureaucrats and the people from various shades of life including the elites visited the CM Secretariat to meet the Chief Minister.
At the outset, a mood of festivity was prevailed all over as sweets and other special dishes were prepared for serving the guests. People also exchanged gifts on the occasion.
A large number of people thronged to Askari and Liaquat Parks in the provincial metropolis where women and children enjoyed rides.
Moreover, the small Eid festivals were also held in different localities of the metropolis where the children enjoyed the camel and horse riding as well.
The Eid gifts and cash were also distributed by different organizations and philanthropists among the poor people in different orphanages in the metropolis.
To recap, soon after the announcement that the Shawwal moon had been sighted on Monday night, a wave of happiness had surged through the masses all-over the city.
People swarmed the markets and Eid bazaars for shopping and women crowded the shops, selling bangles and mehndi.
Till late night people were busy in shopping in the markets.
Strict security measures were also adopted on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Extra deployment of the Police and other law enforcement agencies had been made outside bazaars, shopping centers and sensitive public and private buildings.
