JUI-F female MPAs deeply concerned about water crisis

QUETTA: The members of Provincial Assembly belonging to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Ms. Shahida Rauf and Ms. Husan Bano Rakhshani have expressed their deep concern over the prevailing water crisis in the provincial metropolis.
In a joint statement issued here, the JUI-F parliamentarians pointed out that the people of Quetta are facing immense problems due to shortage of water, but there seems no respite in the sight. Particularly the concerned authorities seem oblivious to the critical situation, they maintained.
Rather, they have turned their ears away from the issue leaving the people in a miserable situation, the JUI-F lady parliamentarians charged.
As major part of the metropolis is deprived of water, the people are compelled to purchase it from the private water tanker mafia, they said.
They were surprised that while the concerned WASA has not been supplying the water to the dwellers on regular basis, the private tanker operators are meeting their demand but for heavy charges. The private water tanker mafia is active in the metropolis to supply water as the WASA is just failed to ensure smooth supply of water in different parts of the city.
The female parliamentarians demanded of the authorities concerned to take prompt measures for resolving the issue of water in the metropolis.
Meanwhile, the dwellers of Christian Town, Samungli Road have threatened to lodge strong protest in case the issue of shortage of water was not resolved immediately.
According to them, the WASA staff is not discharging its duties well, and water is supplied in the area just for few minutes.
The residents are depending on the private water tanker operators to meet their demands, which is uncalled for.
They also demanded of the provincial government to take notice of the situation and resolve the issue. Otherwise, they would be left with no other option but to come on the roads registering their protest against WASA, they said.
