to play wholehearted part in polio eradication

QUETTA: The government is endeavouring to eradicate polio virus from Balochistan province, however, all segments of the society have to play their role in this regard.
This was stated by the Technical Consultant at the Emergency Operation Center for polio, Dr. Masood Jogezai while talking to this scribe the other day.
He said that while the sincere efforts are being made by the government for polio eradication, it is high time for the civil society and other segments including religious leaders, politicians and others to join hands with the government in it’s initiatives in this regard, maintaining he stressed.
Particularly, role of parents is vital. Those who are refusing to get their children administered against the disease have to be convinced to save their beloved ones (children) from the life-long physical disorder, he stressed.
Of course, the refusal of parents to polio immunization of their children is a big issue, he noted with concern.
We have to ensure 100 percent coverage of the polio campaign making it sure that none of the children below five years of age is missed from vaccination, he maintained.
Meanwhile, the necessary arrangements are being reviewed and finalized at the district level for the forthcoming polio immunization campaign.
Meetings are being held in this regard at the district level. A similar meeting was held at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Gwadar the other day.
Deputy Commissioner, Abdul Hameed Abro presided over the meeting. District Health Officer of Gwadar, Dr. Akhtar Buledi, Medical Superintendent of District Headquarter Hospital and concerned officials attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner said that the government is committed to eradicate polio from the province.
He appealed to the parents and all other concerned to play their role in this regard.
The polio immunization campaign is due to be launched from September 14 in the province. The campaign would remain continued till September 17, 2015.
