China, Pakistan vow to enhance defense production ties

ISLAMABAD, Sept 24 (Online): China and Pakistan enjoy deep and trusted relations and Pakistan considers the friendship deeper than the deepest oceans. We want to raise the relationship status to a strategic level with our time- tested friends.
This was stated by Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer
Hussain during a meeting with the visiting Chinese delegation from SASTIND.
Vice Administrator SASTIND Zhang Jianhua called on Federal Minister for
Defence Production and Secretary Defence Production in their respective
offices on Tuesday.
The meeting reviewed the all pending issues and problems and
emphasized for their smooth redressal on priority basis.
During the meeting Federal Minister for Defence Production Rana Tanveer
Hussain highlighted that ‘fast paced method for addressing issues of
bilateral concern is put in place in the shape of Joint Committee
Mechanism. This will ensure growth of Sino- Pak Cooperation in the field of
Defence Production’. The minister also stressed that China has great
potential in the Shipbuilding Sector and Pakistan wants the Chinese friends
to invest and extend technological support in this regard.
Secretary Defence Production Lt Gen (R) Tanvir Tahir emphasized the need of
streamlining matters of Defence Cooperation. He added that ‘a system of
forecasting potential problems needs to be put in place to ensure swift
collaborations. Open competition between Chinese companies for laying down
tenders was stressed upon to make Pakistan’s procurement cost beneficial’.
Vice Administrator SASTIND Mr Zhang Jianhua during the meeting stated that
‘it is a great honor for him to have met the Federal Minister for Defence
Production and ensured that future talks and collaborations under the
honorable minister’s patronage will surely flourish. He praised the far
sighted approach of the minister for building of the new Shipyard.
Last night a dinner was hosted in honor of the Vice Administrator and his
visiting delegation here at the JSHQ Mess. The dinner was attended by
Secretary MODP Lt Gen (R) Tanvir Tahir, Lt Gen Syed Wajid Hussain, Maj Gen
Raza, Maj Gen Qaiser, AVM Asad Lodhi, Maj Gen Omer, Rear Admiral Adnan
Nazir and other officers from Pakistan side. Chinese delegation included Mr
Yao Wen, Mr Sun Tian, Ms Zhan Chunli, Snr Col Pei Jianguo, Mr Ma Wei Hua,
Mr Xu Bensheng, Lt Col Li Yingfeng and other delegates.
The Chinese delegation met Secretary MODP Lt Gen (R) Tanvir Tahir and held
meeting with Maj Gen Raza Muhammad at MODP. Earlier in the day the
delegation met Senior Officers at the General Head Quarters, Joint Services
Head Quarters, Air Head Quarters and Naval Head Quarters. The meetings have
so far being termed as highly fruitful and hopefully the collaborations
will further expand in future.
