Record of licences of weapons to be computerized in Balochistan

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has decided to issue the computerized arms’ licences in the province. The government would also computerize the record of all licences of weapons in the province besides issuing computerized arms.
According to the Provincial Secretary Home Department, Akbar Durrani, the record of licences of all the weapons issued from 1970.
The computerization of record would be done in two phases. In first phase, the Secretary Home maintained, the record of the licenses of Quetta district would be compiled while in second phase, the record of licences issued in other districts of the province would be computerized.
As per the plan, the computerized arm licences would be issued to those seeking the same in future.
In this regard, the services of National Database Authority (NADRA) would be available to the Home department, Mr. Durrani informed.
Meanwhile, it was learnt that around 100,000 licenses of different weapons were issued in Quetta district.
Needless to mention here is that the Punjab government and the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) had already started issuing computerized arms licenses in the province.
Under the agreement signed between Punjab government and NADRA, the system of issuance of arms licences in Punjab would be changed and a consolidated and comprehensive computerized arms licence information management system was evolved and all old licences were to be replaced with new computerized chip cards under a phased programme.
