Chief Minister satisfied with outcome of polio vaccination campaigns

QUETTA: The Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch has expressed his satisfaction over attainment of the targets of the polio immunization campaigns launched recently in the province.
The Chief Minister has praised the efforts of the Chief Secretary, Saifullah Chattha in making the government machinery effective to ensure success of the campaigns launched in the province.
He also appreciated performance of the Provincial Health Department, UNICEF, World Health Organization, Gates Foundation as well as the voluntary and welfare organizations and district administration, in this regard.
In a message issued here, the Chief Minister said that he was pleased to learn that over 2.3 million children were accessed and administered the anti-polio vaccine all over the province during the September 2015 campaign.
Similarly, over 1.283 million children were administered the vaccine in 12 sensitive districts of the province in the immunization campaign successfully carried out in October 2015, he noted with contentment.
As there happens to be the risk of spreading of the polio in the season from September to May, so we need to adopt stringent measures for prevention, he stressed.
In this regard, the Health Department has made planning on the concrete basis, he maintained. The Chief Minister announced that at least nine polio immunization campaigns have been planned from September (2015) to May next (2016).
The very cooperation of parents would be required for achieving the target of polio eradication in the province, Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch stressed.
He appealed to the parents to ensure vaccination of their children below five years of age and thus ensure their healthy future.
He also called on the religious leaders, political leaders, tribal elders and social organizations to play their key role in eradication of polio virus from the province.
