Extraordinary security arrangements for procession of 7th Muharram

QUETTA: Extraordinary arrangements were made for security of the procession of 7th Muharram in the provincial metropolis on Wednesday.
The procession was taken out from the Imambargah Kalan-Hazara on McCongy road and passed through McCongy road, Archar road, Art School road before terminating at Imambargah Nasirul Aza, Prince road.
Strict checking was carried out by security officials to control any unfortunate incident. The shops and markets were closed on route of the procession to give it a safe passage.
While the route of the procession was sealed for the normal traffic, the road, streets and lanes leading to the route were also blocked by creating hurdles and barriers.
Over 3,500 personnel of the law enforcement agencies (LEAs) including Police, Balochistan Constabulary, besides the Frontier Corps (FC) and other law enforcers were deployed on and in surrounding areas of the route of procession as well as other sensitive places to avert any untoward incident.
Special security passes were also issued to the personnel of LEAs and other staff performing Muharram duty.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police Quetta Syed Imtiaz Shah and other senior officials personally supervised the security arrangements made for the procession.
