QUETTA: The Coordinator of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Polio eradication, Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman has stated that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure best management and use of the anti-polio vaccine during the immunization campaign, and as such no negligence would be tolerated in this regard.
Dr. Syed Saifur Rehman was addressing a meeting of the vaccination management committee at EOC here the other day.
The representatives of the Health department, World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF were in attendance at the meeting.
The issues related to the use, management and storage of the polio vaccination and others came up for discussion.
It was decided to hold meeting every month to review the demand and supply of the anti-polio vaccine.
The better use of the anti-polio vaccine would also be reviewed in the meeting with all the concerned stakeholders and partners in attendance, it was decided further.
Speaking on the occasion, the Coordinator of EOC stressed the need to improve management of the vaccine used in the immunization campaigns in the province to ensure its efficacy.
We need to make the strategy in this regard more effective, he stressed further.
The EOC Coordinator said that the officials of the WHO, UNICEF and Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) would work together to monitor the matters pertaining to demand and supply as well as storage of the polio vaccine at the district level.
The EOC would also play its part with regard to monitoring of the same, he maintained.
The WHO representative also addressed the meeting and assured to extend every possible cooperation in this regard.
