Anti-Congo hemorrhagic fever campaign continues

QUETTA: Anti-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHF) campaign is continued in the province including Quetta.
Spray was carried out for prevention of the CCHF in surrounding areas of the areas particularly in the dairy farms and the cattle markets.
The Divisional Director of Livestock department, Dr. Abdul Hameed Kakar and Deputy Director Livestock, Dr. Ghulam Rasool Taj supervised the spray campaign.
During the campaign, the livestock breeders and other concerned were given tips to save their animals from the Congo virus.
It was informed that a total of 425 cattle including cows, buffaloes, sheep and goats were also sprayed on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the senior officers of the livestock urged the breeders to adopt the preventive measures against the Congo virus.
It may be mentioned here that a CCHF Surveillance Cell has been set up at the Provincial Directorate of Health here in Quetta.
Established under the auspices of the Health Department, the Surveillance Cell is functioning in collaboration with the Health Department and World Health Organization (WHO). The Director General of Health Services would head the CCHF.
The NPO of WHO, Dr. Dawood Riaz Baloch has been designated as co-chair the Surveillance Cell. Other members included in the Cell are included: Medical Superintendent of Fatima Jinnah Chest and General Hospital Quetta, Incharge Isolation Ward of the same Hospital, Director Public Health and Provincial Technical Officer, FELTP.
