QUETTA Oct 29 (PPI): President Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta Jamal Khan Tarakai has said traders should be given 30 percent concession on taxes. It would help end smuggling. He said government should take measures to end our problems. He said we have deposited Rupees7 billion in the national kitty as customs duty on our imports and exports during the past 10 months.
Speaking to a select gathering Journalists at his office here Thursday Jamal Tarakai said our ambitions are sincere and soon after our election we began struggle for resolving problems of Chamber of Commerce and Industry Quetta which is a major organisation.
We are facing difficulties about taxes and others. If government grants us concession of 30 Percent in taxes it would help end smuggling. Government had assured for resolving withholding problem but 0.6 percent tax has been levied causing difficulties for traders and others. No progress has been made on withholding tax. We do not accept this tax. He said unless smuggling ends government would not get revenue. It is our effort to end smuggling in league with government.
It is also responsibility of the government to cooperate with us and resolve all our problems.
Replying to a question eh said there were 4 industries in Quetta while only four are operational and others have closed such as ghee mill, Pepsi cola, Harnai woolen mills, Iran-Pakistan Textile mills.
He sought media support to highlighting activities of Chamber to resolve problems. It would also help people of the province.
