QUETTA: The Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), Dr. Kalimullah Khan has categorically stated that it is not his claim rather his vision to make Quetta Little Paris.
He was speaking to a private TV channel the other day.
He said that he is believer of the fact that the due powers should be transferred to the local bodies institutions as per the law, but they are still deprived of the same. The local bodies’ institutions are facing problems due to lack of power to them, he mentioned adding that they (LBs) are also confronted with the financial and resources constraints.
Referring to the paid parking in different parts of the city, the Mayor of QMC said that it is not being opposed by public rather some traders are opposing it. The traders, which own two or three vehicles and park them in front of their shops and outlets, are opposing the paid parking, Dr. Kalimullah claimed.
He said that it has been made clear that the concerned contractors would be responsible for the theft or stolen of the vehicles parked along the roads or in other parking lots, adding he mentioned.
He said that the people may shop freely after parking their vehicles at Rs. 30.
About the encroachments, the Mayor said that it is not right of the shopkeepers to encroach the roads or streets or rent out the outer portion of the shops.
We would not be allowing any one to set up encroachments in the metropolis, he asserted adding that just because violation of the same is causing traffic disruption and congestion mainly in the main city parts.
He said that we have already started campaign against the encroachments, and would continue the same until elimination of the same.
He also pledged not to make any compromise over restoration of beauty of the city.
While on the other hand, while talking to a group of media persons here the other day. Dr. Kalimullah said that we are aware of the issues being faced by the Quetta city and its people. We are committed to take concrete steps for removal of encroachments and resolve the emerging issues of traffic in the metropolis.
He mentioned that the parking along the city roads would be removed fully. Separate places have been allocated for parking of the vehicles, he pledged further.
Moreover, the illegal constructions would be demolished in the Municipal limits. No one would be allowed to violate the Building Code in future, he asserted.
He also said that the construction work to be done without earlier permission of the Corporation and passage of the proper map of the buildings would not be allowed.
While on the other hand, Dr. Kalimullah Khan said that earthquake proof buildings would be constructed. No compromise would be made in this regard, he added.
