QUETTA: The polio immunization campaign, which was continued for last three days in the Balochistan province, has been extended for another day, today (Friday).
According to the sources of Emergency Operation Center (EOC) for Polio Eradication and Vaccination, one-day extension has been made in the campaign just to cover the children missed during the three-day polio immunization campaign in Quetta and other districts of Balochistan.
Therefore, the campaign would remain continued on Friday (today) as well as a catch-up day, the sources maintained.
It is the wholehearted endeavour of the Health department and all other concerned to immunize each and every child before five years against the crippling disease, the EOC sources said.
They told that the vital campaign was somehow affected partially because of the intermittent raining in the provincial capital and some other parts of the province including the northern areas. However, all the areas are being covered now with the aim to achieve the desired target of vaccination set for the ongoing immunization campaign all over the province.
Needless to mention here is that it is targeted to vaccinate 24,72,616 children below five years of age during the forthcoming immunization campaign in the province.
As many as 6,603 mobile teams had been formed for the campaign while there were 796 fixed teams in addition to 321 transit teams formed for the campaign all over the province.
Moreover, the anti-polio drops were also administered to the children at 46 permanent transit points in the province, the Coordinator of EOC informed further.
