PM asks NDMA, others to reach earthquake affected areas

ISLAMABAD Sept 25 (Online): Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to update him on the relief activities and assistance provided by Pakistan Army and other Federal Institutions in the earthquake - affected areas.

According to a statement issued by PM house here on Wednesday, PM instructed the Chairman, NDMA to apprise him on daily basis on the relief measures undertaken by the disaster management authority.

He reiterated that the Federal Government will ensure provision of all possible help to the local administration for rescue and rehabilitation of earthquake – affectees. He added that the Federal Government would stand by the people affected by the natural calamity in their hour of trial.

The Prime Minister also directed Minister for SAFRON General (r) Abdul Qadir Baloch and Minster of State for Petroleum Mr. Jam Kamal to reach Awaran at the earliest.

He further instructed them to stay there for the supervision of all rescue and relief operations and will be responsible for coordination among the NDMA, Pakistan Army, FC and Civilian Authorities. They will also be regularly updating the Prime Minister on the progress of relief efforts.

In the meanwhile, Pakistan Army’s relief contingents have left for the earthquake affected areas on the direction of the Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister also expressed the confidence that the Armed Forces would live up to their traditions to help people affected by the disaster along with the civilian authorities.
