NA passes resolution expressing grief over loss of lives in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD Sept 25 (Online): The National Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous resolution expressing grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in the Balochistan earthquake.
The resolution also expressed sympathies with the families of deceased and called upon the government to expedite the rescue and relief operations in the earthquake hit areas.
The resolution was moved by PPP member Shazia Marri.
Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique told the House that the federation has not adopted irresponsible attitude towards Balochistan quake and appealed the opposition benches to avoid making unnecessary statements.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs‚ Shaikh Aftab categorically rejected the blame of Opposition Leader and said the government is well aware of the intensity of tragedy. He said a report about the overall situation will be presented tomorrow.
Earlier‚ Leader of the Opposition Khurshid Shah initiating the debate on Balochistan earthquake alleged that government is sending wrong message to Baloch people through its attitude. He demanded of the government to take serious measures to ensure the rescue operations in the quake-hit areas of Balochistan.
On a point of order‚ Ameer Zaman demanded of the government to take practical steps to provide relief to the people.
Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said the government has institutionalized all funds to ensure a halt to misuse of money drawn from the national exchequer.
He was replying to the point of order raised by Makhdoom Javed Hashmi in the National Assembly today. Interior Minister assured the House that inquiry will be held into misuse of funds withdrawn from the national exchequer on Javed Hashmi's name.
Members belonging to Pakistan Peoples Party‚ Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami staged a walkout from the proceedings of the House over what they termed the non-seriousness of the treasury benches over the Balochistan earthquake.
