QUETTA jan 21 (PPI): Problems of trade people relating to provincial government would be resolve don priority. Orders have been received from Federal government for obtaining land for six lane Western route. Prime Minister would inaugurate Industrial Zone in Bostan in coming few months. He would also inaugurate Gwadar-Hoshab road towards end of January.
This was stated by Balochistan Chief Secretary Saifullah Chatha while addressing a meeting at chamber of Commerce and Industry here Thursday.
He was flanked by Secretary Industries Fateh Muhammad Bhangar, Secretary Home Akbar Hussain Durrani, IG Police Ahsan Mahbub, DIG Quetta Syed Imtiaz Shah, Collector customs Quetta Dr Saeed Jadoon, FIA officials and members and office bearers of Quetta chamber were present.
He said provincial government and he has no powers for reduction in income tax, tax valuation and others. But tax valuation of Balochistan and other problems would be dealt with as emergency. No taxes should be imposed on people fo Balochistan and Quetta on the pattern of Lahore, Islamabad, Karachi and others but perhaps provincial government cannot help business community much in this regard. However problems within the orbit of provincial government would be resolved in positive manner.
He said as much wheat flour mills owner need would be provided to them. But demand of flour mills owners when we reduce prices for them then they should pickup wheat from us and not from anywhere else. They should cooperate with us. It would benefit growers, flour mills owners and people.
Chief Secretary said there are special economic zones in Balochistan. It has been indicated in whole of the country to FBR and Finance department. If chamber desires its list would be provided.
He said special economic zones would be established at Hub, Gaddani, Gwadar and quota. New industrialist can apply for these. We are ready for deal with them .He said those associated with sea package business have major opportunity.
He aid prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has laid foundation stone of Zhob-Mughal Kot section of Economic corridor on Dec 30. He has received orders of federal government for obtaining land for six lane road. Basically it would be four lane road which would be made six lane later. He said sea pack would be packed and entry and exit into it would be through interchange.
He said federal government will obtained Rupees 40 billion loan from China and others and approval has been accorded for it.
We have proposed industrial zone at any place in Turbat, Khuzdar, Dasht, Quetta, Bostan, Killa Saifullah and Loralai. For preparing five industrial zone provincial Secretary Industries has contacted a group of Peshawar for preparing feasibility report and PC-1. It has worked on feasibility report of industrial zones in Khyber Pashtoonkhwa. He said prime minister has directed that he wants to inaugurate one of these five economic zones in two to three months in Balochistan. We would complete work on Bostan Economic zone and would get its inauguration by prime Minister. He said prime minister would also open Gwadar to Hoshab road in last week of January. Later from Gwadar to Hoshab and Hoshab to Baseema and Rato Dero would be completed by December this year.
He said we are endeavouring continuation of Afghan Transit Trade through Gwadar Port. Sea pack would play important role in uplift of Balochistan. Investors would get exemplary opportunities during two to three years from this. Gwadar expansion was being carried out by China at rupees 250 billion and Gwadar Expressway would be would be six lane would be completed in two years and work on four railway lines would be completed. Gwadar Airport would be completed in three years. He said when transportation of goods from Gwadar would start at large scale people would have massive job opportunities.
Saifullah Chatha said Kuchlak by pass is hurdle in the way of completion of Quetta-Chaman national highway. Acquiring land for this would be ensured within one week and Rupees 290 million have been earmarked for this.
He said he has received letter government would provide land for Expo Centre but members of Chamber should point out it. He said this centre should be located at an area where people should have residential facility.
Earlier President Chamber of Commerce and industry Jamal Tarakai presented address of welcome and pointed out problems.
