CM accords approval for Mass Transit Train system in Quetta

QEUTTA jan 21 (PPI): Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Sanaullah Zehri while according approval in principle for Mass Transit Train System in Quetta has directed DS Railways to prepare working paper and PC-1 of the project immediate. It has been estimated to cost rupees two billion but real cost would be known after preparation of working paper and PC-1.
It would be joint venture between Pakistan railways and government of Balochistan while support from private sector would also be sought.
DS Railways Quetta Haneef Gul at a briefing told Chief Minister that fortunately rail track for the project was available while modern engine and rail car would be imported and it would be a model mass transit system for the entire country. He aid European countries mass transit system have been studied and it would be established on the same lines.
He said project would take six months to one year for completion. It would run from Kuchlak to Spezand and stations would be established at every 4 to 5 Km which would be model of start of threat. Parks and commercial centres would also be setup around the rail track.
Chief Minister said Mass transit train system is very important project which would provide better travelling facilities to the people of Quetta and surroundings particularly those who come to Quetta form nearby areas for jobs, treatment and hopping. This project would not only minimize traffic pressure but would also help minimize atmospheric pollution.
DS Railways assured that working paper of the project would be ready by February 15 and all the matters would be decided in its light.
