QUETTA: The Mayor of Quetta Metropolitan Corporation (QMC), Dr. Kalimullah Khan Kakar and Deputy Mayor, Muhammad Younas Baloch have hailed the assurance made by the Chief Minister regarding provision of powers and funds to the local bodies (LBs) in the province.
They also termed the announcement made in this regard as welcoming.
In a joint statement, they believed that by giving the full powers and funds to the LBs would help ensure development and prosperity of the people at grassroots level.
They said that the secret of lasting and sustainable development lies in strengthening of the LBs. The Mayor and Deputy Mayor believed that the development and prosperity would be made possible with transfer of powers to the LBs. It would also help resolve the issues being faced by the people at the mass level, adding they belieed.
They appreciated the Chief Minister, Nawab Sanaullah Zehri for his vision and democratic approach to resolve the public issues. They said that his vision reflects his determination to resolve the civic issues.
They also hailed announcement of the Chief Minister regarding the LB Convention on occasion of the Sibi Festival. It would also help the issues related to the LBs.
Moreover, they also welcomed the statement of the Chief Minister about amending the Local Government Ordinance. It would also strengthen the LBs in the province, they added.
It may be mentioned here that the Mayor and Deputy Mayor along with the chairman and deputy chairman of all the districts had met the Chief Minister in the Chief Minister’s secretariat a couple of days back.
Also present on the occasion were the provincial ministers and administrative secretaries of the concerned provincial government departments. In the important meeting, the representatives of the LBs had informed the Chief Minister about the issues they are confronting due to the lack of authority and the necessary funds.
Nawab Sanaullah Zehri had given a patient hearing to their issues rather complaints and assured them that the same would be resolved soon.
He had also assured that it there was a need to make any amendment in the Local Government Act 2010, it would also be got approved from the provincial assembly.
