In wake of terrorist attack on BKU: Security arrangements of educational institutions reviewed

QUETTA: The Chief Secretary Balochistan, Saifullah Chattha has categorically stated that the provincial government would take every possible measures for protection of life of the students in the province.
He was chairing a meeting to review the security arrangements of the educational institutions all over the province, here the other day.
The Inspector General of Police, Ahsan Mehboob, Secretary Home and Tribal Affairs, Captain ® Akbar Hussain Durrani, Secretary Education, Abdul Saboor Khan Kakar, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Quetta, Syed Imtiaz Shah, Commissioner Quetta Division, Kambar Dashti, Vice Chancellor of various universities and other concerned high ups were in attendance at the meeting.
The security of the University of Balochistan, Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences, Sardar Bahadur Khan Women University and Bolan Medical College was reviewed during the meeting.
The Chief Secretary mentioned that the security of the universities and other institutions has been tightened in order to escape any untoward incident after the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University (BKU), Charsaddah.
He on the occasion also issued directives to ensure safety of the students in the educational institutions. In this regard, he stressed the need to construct four walls of the universities where the same doesn’t exist. While the same must raise to the sufficient level where it is not up to the mark, he stressed further.
No negligence would be tolerated in this regard, adding he warned.
The Chief Secretary on the occasion directed to the concerned authorities to vacate hostels of the universities from the unauthorized persons.
The hostels of the universities should be checked and unauthorized persons should not be let stay there, he directed.
He also directed to the commissioners to visit the universities and submit their repots so as to deploy security as per their reports.
The security personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) may be deployed if needed so, he stressed.
Meanwhile, talking to the local media here the other day, the Secretary Education, Abdul Saboor Kakar has stated that the security of the educational institutions was being reviewed in the province particularly in Quetta.
The Secretary Education said that the stringent security measures would be adopted to ensure safety of the students. In this regard, the concerned authorities are being given directives, he maintained.
It would be ensured to protect the life of the students and other concerned at all cost, he said.
Needless to mention here is that the Chief Minister Balochistan, Nawab Sanaullah Zehri had issued directives to the Chief Secretary, Saifullah Chattha and Inspector General of Police, Ahsan Mehboob to take steps for security of the educational institutions including the universities.
