Modern agriculture university in Quetta soon: Secretary

SIBI Apr 12 (PPI): A most modern agriculture university would be established in Quetta involving an outlay of rupees five billion with research centre and other agriculture departments. It would have one campus in Nasirabad which would provide awareness to zamindars about increase of agriculture produce and modern means of agriculture.
This was stated by Secretary Agriculture Abdul Rehman Buzdar while speaking with PPI on occasion of Kissan conference at Elementary College here Tuesday.
He said government in office was observing year 2016 as agriculture year. If kissan would be prosperous and he would be prosperous country would make headway and prosper.
He said modern technology was being applied in agriculture sector in the world. There are dry place sin Balochistan but with completion of Kachhi canal most of barren lands irrigated by rain water would turn green with Kachhi canal. Present to government was also providing great subsidy to Zamindars under the head of electricity. Now it is their responsibility to play their role to remove shortage of food stuff and in the development of the country.
Secretary Agriculture said a centre for training of field assistants was being setup at a cost of Rupees 500 million which would train 60 to 70 field assistants about agriculture so that they could provide awareness to zamindars in their respective areas. Three hundred assistant field workers have been imparted training so far.
He said over 80 zamindars were getting training in Islamabad also.
