Balochistan facing terrorism for 10 years: Minister
QUETTA, Oct 31 (APP): Provincial Health Minister, Mir Rehmat Saleh Baloch has said that Balochistan province has been facing challenge of terrorism for last 10 years, adding that during that period, doctors’ community was also targeted by terrorists.
He, however, said that participation of psychiatrist doctors in Psychiatry Conference in Quetta from all over the country has ended negative propaganda against Balochistan law and order situation. “By promoting education and science, we will defeat terrorism,” he said. He was addressing 21st Psychiatry Conference held here which was attended by renowned psychiatrists from all over country. President, Pakistan Psychiatry Society, Prof-Dr. Nasir Syed, Prof-Dr. Ghulam Rasool, Prof-Dr. Imtiaz, Prof-Dr. Muhammad Sultan, Prof-Dr. Abdul Malik Achakzai and others were present.
The Minister said that people were suffering from psychological diseases like that depression, stress and anxiety due to terrorism. “It is responsibility of doctors, especially psychiatrists to play their due role to treat people who are suffering from these diseases,” he said. He said that terrorists victimized educated class of Balochistan including doctors to deprive people of treatment.
He said that an international proxy war was being fought in Balochistan where foreign forces were funding and patronizing terrorists and militant groups. “International forces have been fighting their proxy war on the land of Balochistan,” he said.
