NLC relief convoy leaves for Baloshistan earthquake hit areas

ISLAMABAD, Sep 27 (APP): A convoy of heavy vehicles of
National Logistics Cell (NLC) carrying tents and other relief goods
left for the earthquake victims of Balochistan wich will reach
Friday night, a official said.
A NLC official, Syed Mushtaq Ahmed told APP that the relief
supplies were being transported on the request of National Disaster
Management Authority (NDMA).
Five thousands tents and other relief goods will be transported
by NLC fleet to Awaran District for onward distribution among
victims of the natural calamity, he said.
The official further said that NDMA through its Risk
Management Framework had defined the role and responsibilities of
various key stakeholders including NLC.
NLC has performed numerous important crises management tasks
in natural calamities since its creation in 1978 like Cyclone Badin
in 2002, Earthquake in 2005, IDPs Crisis in 2009 and Super Floods in
2010 besides offsetting logistics crises on many occasions as well
as support to the Armed Forces in emergency, the official added
