Girls Guides Association ready to change world

QUETTA Sep 13 (PPI): World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) has selected 18 young women from 145 countries for the Post-2015 Ambassadors. Ms Afshan Saleem has been selected from Pakistan. She is association with Balochistan girl Guide Association.
Investing in girls and women will change our world that is the message from World’s largest voluntary organization for girls and women- World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) which has ten million members in 145 countries. WAGGGS is putting out a special call to put girls and women at the centre of future development agenda.
For the past 5 years WAGGGS have sought to further education, understanding and action around the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) through an education programme called the Global Action Theme. They encouraged girls and young women to speak out, educate and take action on MDGs. With girls and young women among the most vulnerable of all the target groups, this project helped promote development worldwide.
With focus now shifting towards the Post 2015 Development Agenda, WAGGGS is working to promote the role girls and women will play in bringing about lasting, sustainable development. Through participation in High level Panel discussions, consultations and development events, representatives of WAGGGS are pushing for the inclusion of a dedicated development goal focused on girls and women.
To champion this work 18 young women have been selected as Ambassador for their respective countries and regions. Ms Afshan Saleem is a Girl Guide/Young Leader in Pakistan for over 5 years is passionate about ensuring the voices of girls and women are heard in the post 2015 development agenda.
She is of view that world she wants for girls is the world which should be peaceful, informative, supportive, encouraging with lots of opportunities for every human being, where they have the freedom to develop their fullest potential where there is no gender discrimination and everybody understands the key challenges of this generation and tackles them with responsibility.
As the leading volunteer movement dedicated to girls and young women in the world, WAGGGS is in an exceptional position to make sure the voices of girls and young women are heard.
