ISLAMABAD, September 28 (Online): Alpine Club of Pakistan will host the General Assembly of Union of the Asian Alpine Associations–the Asian Mountaineering and Climbing Federation in Islamabad from 30th September to 1st October 2013.

It is pertinent to mention here that this General Assembly is being held in Pakistan after 11 years. Due to various reasons, no meeting of the mountaineering and climbing community could hold earlier. The Asian Union is holding this General Assembly especially to show its solidarity with Pakistan after the terrorist attack on Nanga Parbat Base Camp in June this year. It is hoped that this International meeting will help promote mountain tourism in Pakistan in the coming years.
