COAS vows to recover remaining bodies of martyrs of Gyari

GAYARI Oct 2 (Online): Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has vowed to continue efforts for the recovery of the remaining bodies of the martyrs of Gyari.

Addressing a special ceremony at Gayari sector on Wednesday‚ the Army Chief said that one hundred and thirty-three bodies of the martyrs have so far been recovered.

He lauded the untiring efforts‚ dedication and devotion of the troops who succeeded in accomplishing this difficult task.

The Army Chief said that the entire nation stands by the armed forces of Pakistan in performing their sacred obligation of defence of the country. He said that those who sacrificed their lives for the defence of the motherland would never be forgotten.

Earlier‚ the Chief of Army Staff laid a floral wreath at the monument of the Gyari martyrs and offered Fateha.

The ceremony was also attended by the heirs of martyrs and officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army.

One hundred and twenty nine soldiers and eleven civilians were martyred in 2012 when an avalanche hit the Gayari sector.
