ISLAMABAD, Oct 3 (Online): A convocation ceremony of newly inducted 268
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) investigators would be held today (Friday)
at Aiwan-e-Sadar.
Mamnoon Hussain, President of Pakistan would award certificates to the position holders of the investigators’ course.
The remaining officers will be awarded their certificates in a subsequent
ceremony upon graduation. Dy Chairman NAB, Rear Admiral Saeed Ahmad Sargana has expressed the hope that this infusion of fresh blood will go a long way
in furthering the efforts of NAB to eradicate corruption in the society.
To overcome the acute shortage of trained manpower for investigating white
collar crimes in a professional manner, NAB inducted 268 officers, after a
transparent selection process in 2012. National Testing Service (NTS)
conducted the entrance test of more than 65000 candidates. Out of 350
vacancies, 268 officers were recruited and have undergone seven month
training which is due to complete on 11th October 2013.
During their seven months training period they were provided training under
the best instructors available among our domestic institutions/agencies,
supplemented by experts from overseas. Their training included analyses of
case studies of successful and unsuccessful court cases giving reasons for
success or failure. They were given opportunities to investigate, collect
evidence, and even conduct mock trials to hone their expertise during real
time activities.
At the conclusion of their training they were subjected to comprehensive
tests to assess their capabilities. These tests included all that they have
been trained for including research and report writing.
Their training also included an effort to cultivate in them a strong
character and principles of humanity and ethical values, so as to ensure
their dedication to eradication of corruption.
