NUML, IIUI agree to have academic cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Oct 3 (Online): National University of Modern Languages (NUML), Islamabad, and International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) formally agreed to have an academic collaboration and facilitate each other in different academic fields in which one has expertise and experience.

It was agreed in a meeting between Director General (DG) NUML Brig Azam Jamal and President IIUI, Dr. Ahmad Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh during the later visit to NUML, on Thursday.

The President IIUI, Dr. Al-Draiweesh was accompanied by all Deans and Directors of IIUI including Munawer Iqbal Gondal, Dean Faculty of Language and Literature, Dr Nabi Bux Jamani, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Muhammad Sher, Dean Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences, Dr Shagufta Haroon, Director Academics and others.

The meeting was also attended by Dr Syed Ali Anwar, Dean Social Sciences, Registrar NUML Brig (R) Saeed Akhtar Malik, Director Academics Col (R) Syed Jawaid Ahmad and other officials of the University.

During the meeting, Dr. Ahmad Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh said “purpose of visiting here with all the Deans of IIUI is to introduce them with the faculty and deans of NUML and provide them an opportunity to find out what are those areas where we can help each others.

This exercise will strengthen our efforts and cause of promoting higher education in Pakistan as well as the deep rooted bilateral relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia”.

He said that when he was being appointed as the President of the IIUI, Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz told him that he was sending him to serve another home and Pakistan was another home.

There has been 2.5 million Pakistani living in Saudi Arabia and they are contributing for the development and growth of Saudi Arabia. NUML and IIUI will be an opportunity to serve this nation with the same spirit and vigor that our Pakistani brothers share with us, he added.

DG NUML Brig Azam Jamal told the visiting Dr Yousif Draiweesh that his feelings and love for Pakistani brothers is worth appreciating and an academic collaboration between NUML and IIUI would help both the universities to start new joint academic ventures and take benefit out of each other’s expertise.

He said that Deans and Heads of different departments would carry out a study to set goals of this cooperation and in the light of these goals a road map would be worked out to bring our teaching and training departments to international standards.

Later, a formal ceremony will be arranged for signing a memorandum of understanding.

Moreover, he also said that NUML will include IIUI as a partner in other international projects.

It was decided in the meeting that Dr Syed Ali Anwar, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences would be focal person from NUML while Dr Munawar Iqbal Gondal, Dean of Faculty of Language and Literature, would be a focal person from IIUI for this academic collaboration.

Dr. Ahmad Yousif A. Al-Draiweesh and other officials of IIUI also visited the different departments and facilities of NUML. In the end DG Brig Azam Jamal presented university shields to the visiting guests.
